Product lightweighting
Emissions Gap Report 2019 published by the UN Environment Programme defines product lightweighting as: ‘A process of creating lighter products through designs that require less material or substitute heavier material with lighter and/or less energy-intensive materials. Lighter material alternatives, both in weight or volume, can generate substantial energy savings in the transport and building sectors.’
